Thumbs up Raising Arizona

Here's another Cohen Brothers film. Holy Hunter and Nicholas Cage kidnap a baby and the whole movie is just hilarious. My favorite quote from the film. Cage and his cellmate are in jail. Cage is on the bottom bunk and his cell mate is on top. The cell mate is talking about how hard life was when he was a kid. They talk and this is what's said, Cell mate, "Times was hard back then. when there was no meat, we ate fish, when there was no fish, we ate crawdad, when there was no crawdad, we ate sand". Cage: "You ate SAND"? Cell mate: "We ate sand". A great movie.

I loved this one when it came out. I am a huge Holly Hunter fan (not so much of Nic Cage but I quite enjoyed him in this role). What a classic movie. The Coens have a good list of great movies to their name.

A lot of things come together to make this film highly enjoyable; acting, writing, music, pace, directing... It's over-the-top fun. This film makes you enjoy every minute so it's easy to forget the seriousness of the base story. Opening with a brilliant pre-credits monologue, "Raising Arizona" tells of an incompetent, compulsive petty criminal's love for his prison warder: married but infertile, the couple kidnap a baby, whose tycoon father hires a crazed biker to find and kill the culprits… A surreal, slapstick satire, it takes intense pleasure in exciting plotting, showy and cheap colors, and hilarious screwball characters… Great Movie... A Must See!!!

Nothing Amazing, sorta pointless and seemed really short. Nick Cage did a great job. There is a lot of fighting violence towards the end. There is some talk of sex. You see a lot of beer cans. Role models were horrible and then they got a little better.
