Default Sicko

I have not yet seen this one, but I have heard it is excellent. I was hoping to be able to see it but our theater didn't receive the film. I will have to travel a few towns out to see it, hopefully it is worth the trip.

Yeah. I have not seen either but I heard it was pretty good.
I am looking forward to seeing it. It is running in our theater. Just did not get the chance to see it.

It's pretty good, personally I thought Bowling for Columbine was better.

Sicko was an overall decent movie.

While I enjoyed the film, I found it a bit one sided. Either way, the film did shed some light on issues that many people are not aware of.

To further this discussion about the documentary, what do you think about socialized medicine? And depending no where you live, what's your health care like? Do you agree or disagree with Moore's documentary? Or did you find it one sided like I did.

Socialized medicine??? Do you think that having universal health care coverage means socialized medicine???
This is how the Republicans want to frame the debate: Health coverage for everyone = socialized medicine!
I think not.
The US is the ONLY industrialized nation that does not cover all its citizens with health care.
If you live in the US, and you are poor and can not afford health insurance, your options are to sit in emergency rooms (where they can not deny you health care), stay in the US and wait for your death or move to Canada.

If guaranteeing health coverage to all US citizens is a terrible thing (socialized medicine), then we are in big trouble.

Haha, sorry. In my defense, I was suppose to put quotations around "socialized" but I guess I forgot to. In that documentary, Michael Moore refers to being called socialized medicine by those who disagree with a universal health care.

Didn't mean to offend you!

I am not offended. This is a healthy discussion. I have not seen the documentary yet. But I have heard republican candidates (who don't have to worry about being able to afford health care) refer to universal health care as "socialized" medicine. I feel like these people don't give a sh*t about the millions of americans who can't afford health insurance.

We already have a socialized healthcare and police force and ambulance service and education. Just because providing free service to the masses seems to be projected as socialist it doesn't mean it is russian or soviet. I hope the voting population of america realizes that everyone has a right to live. They feel the everyone only has a right to speech and seem to have forgotten about the right to live, right to survive. When you are paying your taxes you should be provided some sort of health service for free. Just like you don't pay for police specifically to maintain law and order it doesn't mean it is not a socialist thing. The costs of maintaining law and order are sourced from your taxes. Almost all the developed nations , hell even CUBA has an efficient public health care system. Also every practising doctor has some sort of certification and no insurance company has the moral right to deny the health claims of their customers. The movie brings to light some major issues plauging the health and medicine system in the USA but it leaves me with a sour taste as Michael moore shows off the cheque he sent his critic. If he hadn't done this on the movie then i would have like it better than Bowling for Columbine.

I never understand this issue about medicine being socialized or not. People just need to be healthy. How they do it is really not important.

I have never seen a rich cancer patient complain about socialized medicine when he could not pay his health premiums. that documentary was insightful and a wake up call to all of us.

Sicko is pretty good. Its eye opening.. Michael Moore has a way of slanting things to his viewpoint though. I guess you either like him or you hate him.

Worth renting.
