As first , Stanley Kubrick , then , Sidney Pollack , Steven Spielberg , Roland Joffe , Terry Gilliam , James Cameron , Ridley and Tony Scott , Ron Howard and many , many others . I hate to make lists of films , directors , actresses , actors ... Lists are for shopping , my friends .

I agree. Kubrick should definitely be tops on the list. All other directors are followers of Kubrick. However, RIDLEY SCOTT is also amazing. I love Blade Runner, Gladiator, and can't wait for the new Robin Hood!

Default up and rising directors
There are so many directors in the industry, some of my favorites include Ron Howard and james cameron, but I think with the rise in independent films and documentaries we will start to see new names emerging. Bill Evashwick is a guy who's been in the industry for a while, some of you may know him for his A&E documentaries. What really got me interested in him is that i saw he is directing some movies on this site called imadeamovie.com. It's kind of an interactive movie making experience and he lets you vote on what music to use for scenes and watch the actors auditions and vote on which one you like, its pretty cool. Aside from him I am excited to see some more upcoming big names in the director world and I'm hoping that they use technology and do more interactive things like that so that we the viewers can have a chance to help in the process.
