Default What is it with you people?! High school musical?! Are you all insane?

Have none of you seen Mary Poppins?
Annie?
Amadeus?

You all have the nerve to even categorize 'High School Musical' into a musical?

Ignorance is indeed, bliss.

Knowledge and taste, May you rest in peace.

I feel your pain. Still, modern cinema is a strange animal after all.
Its not just musicals. Look what passes for action/horror and comedy these days.
Speaking of musicals, I viewed 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks' and 'Little Shop Of Horrors' yesterday. Nostalgic bliss. I love 'Labyrinth' too. Not sure if that counts as a musical though.
A musical is a film where the characters emote through songs and Jareth in Labyrinth clearly does that.

Modern cinema is a repulsive animal.

I agree with you, completely.

Anything can pass of as anything as long as it is categorized into a specific genre. If it says "horror", people will believe it is indeed a horror.
It's kind of like the placebo effect in many ways. I've been wanting to see 'Little Shops Of Horrors' for a while now. I'll be sure to give it a watch.
